Below is some info on our Rugby Club - Trinity RFC (formerly known as Old Mid-Whitgiftian RFC)

The rugby club was founded in 1926 by the old boys of Trinity School in Croydon which at the time was known as Whitgift Middle School. The School changed its name to Trinity School of John Whitgift in 1954 however it took until 2019 for the rugby club to eventually follow suit by adopting the name of Trinity RFC however we are a fully open club and welcome players from all walks of life regardless of which school they attended. Despite the name change the club will continue to be affectionately known by its nickname, “The Mids”, for years to come!

The First XV currently play in Surrey 1 of the London & South East Division with the AXV playing in the Surrey Reserve Leagues. Training takes place at Lime Meadow Avenue on Wednesday evenings from 19:30 until 21:00 throughout the season with matches on Saturday afternoons. We also run a social Vets side, the Matrons, for those aged 35 and above who look to play around a game a month.

With the school now welcoming girls into their 6th form we have recently set up a women’s section with training sessions on Wednesday nights throughout the Summer from 19:30 until 21:00.

Our junior section have copied the senior section in changing their name and are now known as “Trinity Titans”. Training and matches take place on Sunday mornings from 10:30 for ages 6 through to 16 year olds. For those not quite old enough to join the Titans we have a partnership with Rugbytots who also run out of the clubhouse on Sunday mornings with session for 2½ to 5 year olds.

At the other end of the scale we have an active social group of former players and supporters know as the “Midwives” as a nod to our former name!

With the best pitches in Surrey, including one with floodlights for training and evening matches, we welcome new members of all ages and ability to join our ranks as either players or supporters/social members.
